# Smart geotargeting - Hide VS Disable banner

# Hide banner

This feature allows you to hide the cookie banner for visitors from selected regions while still giving them control over their cookie preferences.

In some regions, such as certain US states, privacy laws do not require a cookie banner to be shown upfront but still require providing an option for users to manage their cookies.

With this in mind, you can disable the banner and instead offer access through a floating widget or a footer link.

To set this up, go to the **Regions section** in the app and choose the locations where you want the banner to be hidden. When this option is enabled, cookies will be allowed by default, as it is designed for opt-out regions.

To ensure compliance, you should also enable a way for users to update their preferences—either via a cookie widget or a link to reopen the banner.

You can then preview and test the setup to see how it appears to visitors from different regions.

Here is also a quick guide on setting this up:

|| Note: This feature is available for users with Smart Geotargeting enabled.

# Re-open cookie settings option

The cookie management section if you use the above option for hiding the banner for a specific region can be set by following the below guide:

# Disable banner

It’s important to understand the difference between these two options.

The **Hide banner** setting only removes the cookie banner from being displayed on the page. The app will still be active in the background, and users can manage their preferences through a widget or footer link.

On the other hand, **Disable banner** will completely stop the app from functioning in the selected region. This means no banner, no consent collection, and no cookie management functionality will be available to visitors from that location.
