ADA & WCAG - Accessibility Statement

Accessibility Statement Page


The Accessibility Statement feature in Consentmo lets you create and publish a dedicated accessibility statement page for your Shopify store.


The page can include your business contact details, information about your accessibility efforts, supported accessibility standards, and the functionality available through the Consentmo Accessibility Widget.


Plan availability: The Accessibility Statement is available on the Plus plan.


How to Access the Accessibility Statement


  1. Open the Consentmo GDPR app.
  2. Go to Web accessibility.
  3. Open the Statement tab.
  4. Click Create page to configure your Accessibility Statement.


You can also use Preview page to review the page before publishing it.



Setup


The Setup section controls how visitors access your Accessibility Statement and which business contact details are displayed.




Use these settings to add the Accessibility Statement to your store footer.


  • Add link to store footer

Enable this option to automatically add the Accessibility Statement page to your footer.


  • Page URL slug

Set the URL path for the page, such as:


accessibility-statement


The URL slug can only be configured during the first publication.


  • Link text

Set the text displayed in the footer, such as Accessibility Statement.


Business information


Add the contact details that should appear in your Accessibility Statement.


Available fields include:


  • Email
  • Phone
  • Business Address


This information gives visitors a way to contact your business regarding accessibility questions or issues.


Design


The Design section lets you customize the appearance of the Accessibility Statement page.



Page colors


Adjust the main page colors to match your store branding.


  • Background

Sets the page background color.


  • Text

Sets the color of the statement text.


Custom CSS


Add custom CSS for more advanced styling changes, such as spacing, layout, or other visual adjustments.


Example:

Use the desktop and mobile preview options to review how the statement will appear before publishing it.


Content


The Content section lets you customize the text displayed on the Accessibility Statement page.




Multilingual accessibility statement


Enable the multilingual statement to translate the page into the languages supported by your Shopify store.


Languages are pulled from your Shopify store settings.


Select a language to edit its content. The default store language is marked accordingly.


Statement body


Use the content editor to customize the full Accessibility Statement.


The default content can include information about:


  • Your commitment to providing an accessible online experience
  • WCAG 2.2 Level AA
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • European Accessibility Act (EAA)
  • Your ongoing accessibility efforts
  • Accessibility tools and features available on your storefront
  • One-click accessibility profiles available through the Consentmo Accessibility Widget


You can edit, remove, or expand the default text to better reflect your store's accessibility practices.


The {store} placeholder can be used to automatically display your Shopify store name.


Preview and Publish


The live preview lets you review how the Accessibility Statement will appear before making it available to visitors.



You can switch between:


  • Desktop view
  • Mobile view


Once you are satisfied with the setup, click Publish to make the Accessibility Statement available on your store.
