✅ What does the Web Accessibility Widget do?


The widget offers assistive options that help users perceive, navigate, and interact with your site more effectively.


This includes visual enhancements and navigation aids tailored for users with visual impairments, motor disabilities, cognitive limitations, and more.


When enabled, the widget displays a floating accessibility icon on your storefront that opens a panel with helpful accessibility tools.


🛠️ Widget Functionality & Customization Options


From the app dashboard, under Consentmo GDPR → Web Accessibility, you can:


🔘 Enable or Disable the Widget


  • Enable the widget in the theme


  • Toggle the widget on/off globally


  • Control visibility with Enabled, Disabled, or Admin Mode (test before publishing)



🎨 Widget Design


  • Choose from 3 icon styles (classic accessibility icon, eye icon, or button with label)


  • Preview real-time changes in the built-in Preview panel



📐 Widget Size & Positioning


  • Select from Small, Medium, Large widget sizes


  • Choose widget placement: Top-right, Top-left, Bottom-right, or Bottom-left


  • Set pixel distance from edges to fine-tune positioning



🌈 Widget Color Customization


  • Use default Blue or Dark themes


  • Or apply Custom colors to match your brand design



If custom colors are set for the widget, and you get the below message, please consider changing the colors so they are in more contrast for better readability:





  • Add a direct link to your Accessibility Statement or external ADA compliance page



🧪 Live Preview Panel


The integrated Preview section (with desktop/mobile toggle) allows you to see the widget behavior instantly—ensuring design and placement look perfect before going live.



🔧 Advanced Widget Behavior Settings


The Consentmo ADA Accessibility Widget comes with several behavior customization options to help merchants fine-tune how and when the widget appears for users.


Here's what each setting does:


🧩 Enable Keyboard Shortcut


Allow users to open the accessibility widget by pressing the Tab key on their keyboard. This improves usability for keyboard-dependent users and is especially useful for screen reader navigation.


💡 Recommended for stores that aim to provide full keyboard accessibility compliance under WCAG standards.




👁️‍🗨️ Show/Hide Forever Button


This option adds a “Hide Forever” button to the widget, giving users the freedom to remove the widget from view if they don’t need it.


Ideal for a cleaner UI experience after initial interaction, while still maintaining compliance transparency.




👻 Hide Widget Until Activated


With this setting enabled, the widget remains hidden by default and only appears when a user activates it (e.g., via keyboard shortcut).


Useful for stores with minimalistic designs who want to offer accessibility tools without visual clutter.




💬 Powered by Consentmo


Toggle the visibility of the “Powered by Consentmo” label on your widget.

You can choose to keep your branding clean or highlight that you're using a trusted accessibility solution.



These options are available under Web Accessibility > Widget Behavior in the app. Merchants can preview changes in real-time and combine these settings to create the most inclusive experience possible - without sacrificing store aesthetics.

💡 Best Practices


  • Pair the widget with a visible Privacy Widget or Cookie Preferences button to provide complete control and transparency.
  • Add an Accessibility Statement link if you have one, detailing your store’s commitment to accessibility and available support options.
  • Regularly review the position and contrast of the widget on your theme—especially if using custom CSS or dynamic content.
