Multilingual setup for Consentmo GDPR app

If you have more than one language in the store and need to translate the cookie banner to all of them, please check the guide below:


Default cookie banner language


Once the installation of the app is complete, the Default language of the cookie banner will be automatically fetched and set for you.


You can check the default banner language by following these steps:


  1. Go to the Cookie banner tab


  1. Open the Content section


  1. On top of the section, see the language marked as default for the cookie banner



The language that will be set for the cookie banner will be the one set as a default for the store in the Shopify settings.


Multilingual setup


If you need to add more languages in which the cookie banner needs to be translated, please follow the below steps:


  1. Go to the Settings tab


  1. Locate the Language section


  1. In the Multilingual section, Enable the multilingual support


  1. Select the language detection method from the following:


  • From browser preferences


  • From IP Address (geolocation)


  • From URL (domain.myshopify.com/en)


  • From store language (locale) - Recommended if you are already using a 3rd party translation app



Extra languages


  • With the Add new language button you can add the additional languages you have published for the store.


  • Once the languages are selected, they will be automatically toggled On as well.

🌟 If you already have any languages published in the store settings at the time of installing the app on a paid plan they will be fetched, translated, and enabled automatically for you.


Additional options


For each Extra language, you have the option to:


  • Set it as a new Default language


  • Remove the language from the list



Edit the content


In case you need to change the content for any of the available languages, please follow the steps below:


  1. Go to the Cookie banner tab:


  1. Open the Content section


  1. Select the language you want to change


  1. In the fields for each element of the cookie banner, set the preferred text



Multilingual translations according to your plan


  • Free plan - Not included


You will be shown the available language options in the Content section



  • All paid plans (Standard/Plus/Enterprise):


  • Unlimited number of languages


  • Automatic translation once the language is added


  • All languages published in the store at the time of installing the app, will be fethed and set automatically for you.
