Smart Geolocation - Consentmo GDPR: Region-Specific Cookie Banners for Global Shopify Compliance

Now, in the Consentmo GDPR app you have the option to show different banners to your webpage visitors, based on their location.

In this guide you can check how you can set this up from the points below:

The option is giving you more control on how the tracking in the store is working for the different regions where the banner is showing and also can improve the user experience by setting up the region-specific banner for your visitors.

Meaning, that you can have the banner set for your EU visitors set as per the GDPR rules with an Accept, Reject and Preferences buttons available with all the tracking blocked initially before consent.

In the same time you can set the US region specific banner to show a Do not Sell and Accept buttons, and the tracking enabled initially until opt out.

Basically, for each country in the world, you can set a different cookie banner.

Pretty cool, right!

How to set it up?

The option can be found in the Cookie banner tab > Regions section.

It is just below the map:

  • Once you hit the Enable button, there will be a prompt message informing you for the changes that the option will introduce for the Cookie banner in your store:

If you agree with the terms, you can hit the "Automate Compliance for me" button.

Video Guide

From this point on, for further adjustments to the feature, please check our brief video guide below:

As explained in our video guide, the options you can set for each region separately are the following:

  • Accept / Preferences - the tracking is initially blocked, until consent is given by the visitor

  • Do not sell / Accept - the tracking is initially allowed, until the visitor opts out from the Do not sell button

  • Accept / Reject - the tracking is initially blocked, until consent is given by the visitor

  • Reject only - the tracking is initially allowed, until the visitor interacts with the Reject button

  • Accept only - the tracking is initially blocked, until the visitor interacts with the Accept button

  • Hide banner - Will no longer show the banner

Revert the changes

You can test this out, and in case you decide that it is not working for your use case, you can always revert the settings to their previous state.
