How to Create and link a “Do Not Sell Page" for CCPA Compliance
If your store needs to comply with California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or other U.S. state privacy laws, it’s important to provide a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" page.
This allows your visitors to opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal data for targeted advertising.
Steps to Create the Do Not Sell Page
- If you will be using the Generate Regional Pages option, make sure you have the US is selected as a region for showing the banner in the Regions tab of the app!
- Navigate to the Consentmo app.
- Go to the Privacy center tab.
- Click the Privacy request pages section.
- Select the options for Generate Regional Pages
- In the list of pages generated you will be able to see the link for the Do Not Sell page we created for you.
You can also click the Preview button in order to see how the page will look like once it's generated, as shown below:

Link in the footer
The simplest way to make pages accessible is by adding them to your store's footer menu, just like any other page.
- Go to the Content menu of the store admin
- Open the Menus section
- Select the Footer menu

- In the Footer menu section, select the Add menu item option

- Two input fields will become available for the element Label (text) and Link (URL)
- Set the text for the link that will show in the Footer menu and locate the page that you want to link to it as well, as shown here:

- Save the changes and check the link in the frontend
Customers can reverse their opt-out choice
The Do Not Sell or Share page also supports customers who have previously opted out of the sale or sharing of their personal information.
After opting out, the customer will see the “Sale of data not allowed” status. They can select “Allow my data to be shared” if they want to reverse their previous choice and allow data sharing again.
If the customer has not opted out, the page will continue to display the original opt-out option.
