Privacy requests- Additional custom identification
The Customer Identification settings allow you to decide whether visitors should provide an email address before submitting certain privacy requests through the Consentmo Privacy Center.
These options are useful when merchants want to better connect privacy requests with customer records, track submitted requests more easily, or verify which customer profile a request belongs to.
Require email for selected privacy choices
When this setting is enabled, visitors may be asked to enter an email address before completing selected privacy actions.
For signed-in Shopify customers, Consentmo can automatically use the email address from their customer profile. In this case, no additional email field is shown to the customer.
For visitors who are not signed in, an email field may be shown depending on which options are selected below.

Withdraw consent
- When enabled, visitors who want to withdraw their cookie or marketing consent will be asked to provide an email address.
This can help merchants keep a clearer record of consent withdrawal requests and connect them to a customer profile where possible.
Limit use of sensitive personal information
- When enabled, visitors who choose to limit the use of their sensitive personal information will be asked to provide an email address.
This may be helpful for merchants who need additional customer identification in order to process and track these requests internally.
Do not sell or share my personal information
- California opt-out rights should generally be available without requiring customers to log in, create an account, or provide extra identification. Because of this, Consentmo keeps the “Do not sell or share my personal information” action as a one-click option.
This approach helps reduce compliance risk by making the opt-out process simple and accessible for visitors.
Why is this always one-click?
The “Do not sell or share my personal information” request should be easy for California visitors to complete. Requiring extra steps, such as account login, customer registration, or additional identification, may create unnecessary friction.
To help merchants follow this general recommendation, Consentmo keeps this specific action one-click by default.
**At the same time, Consentmo still provides additional customer identification options for other privacy request types. **This allows merchants to collect an email address where needed, especially when they want to better track requests or match them with existing customer profiles.
