What should I do when receiving a Google Privacy notification for GDPR Compliance?
If you are using Google Tracking Services in your store and operating within the EU/EEA + UK GDPR regions, you can do the following to comply with their requirements.
Please indicate clearly how the Cookies are being used in your store, and if your visitor gave consent through the Cookie Bar, they are aware that their information may be used for personalized and non-personalized ads.
You will also need to provide information about the Google Services you’re using in your store and place it on your Privacy Policy page together with the link to Google’s Policy and Terms site, as shown here: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
To avoid common mistakes when implementing Cookie Consent Management in your store, please refer to Google’s EU User Consent Policy and Checklist here: https://www.google.com/about/company/user-consent-policy-help
Please note: The following steps below are in accordance with the recommended settings for the GDPR regions.
Navigate to your Shopify Admin panel > Online Store > Preferences > Customer Privacy > and in the section for “Choose when marketing and analytics data is collected for customers from the EU, EEA, UK, and Switzerland.”
The recommended “Collected after consent” option is the one you can select to have Shopify’s and our app’s settings fully integrated with each other and have tracking on visitors corresponding to their consent.

In addition to that, if you have any tracking services set from the Preferences section in your Shopify Admin, it would be best to check the option for "Use Enhanced Ecommerce" for all of them so they can be blocked until consent via the cookie bar is given by the visitor, as shown below:

You can also change the initial state of the cookie groups in the app settings from the Cookie Bar tab > Cookie Bar Behavior section > Initial State Of The Cookie Bar for all the cookie groups to be blocked initially, as shown below:

Please note: The following instructions are optional depending on which specific Google Tracking Services you use and how they were installed in your store. In case they were added via a script to your theme files, you can follow the guide in our FAQ sections below:
