Meta/ Facebook pixel integration for Consentmo GDPR app

How it works

By using our Meta pixel integration, you will ensure that the service will only be loading and tracking for the visitor session only once the Consentmo GDPR cookie banner is accepted.

All cookies from the service will also be blocked along with the pixel so no tracking for the current session is active before consent.

|| ⚠️NOTE: The following integration will work properly if the Meta pixel is added only via the Consentmo settings. If you have it running from any other 3rd party app, or scripts in the theme, you need to disable it from there and have it running only via our app.

Integration Steps

Open Integrations tab.
Click on Meta pixel section
Click on the Enable button

Add the pixel ID
Save the changes

If you have difficulties with locating the Pixel ID, you can check your Pixel settings.

In the Events Manager section, the ID can be found in the upper right corner of the page:

Klaviyo Integration for Consentmo GDPR app

The Consentmo GDPR app offers seamless integration with Klaviyo Marketing service, ensuring that your email marketing efforts align with GDPR compliance standards. This integration is particularly crucial for managing consent around marketing cookies.

To establish this integration:

Script Addition: You'll need to add a specific script to your store's theme files. This script controls Klaviyo's activity based on the visitor's consent.

Functionality

Control Over Klaviyo Service: Once the script is in place, it governs Klaviyo's functionality based on the visitor's cookie preferences set via the Consentmo GDPR app's Cookie bar.
Klaviyo Cookie Management: The script utilizes the Klaviyo cookie __kla_off. Setting this cookie to true ensures that Klaviyo refrains from tracking data if a customer opts out of Marketing cookies.

Google Universal Analytics integration (Deprecated)

|| On July 1, 2024, Google Analytics 4 properties will have fully replaced Universal Analytics properties, as previously announced.

From that date, Google will begin turning off all Universal Analytics services and Universal Analytics APIs, which means Universal Analytics properties will be inaccessible through the Google Analytics front end and APIs.

Shopify's Consent Tracking API integration

The Consentmo GDPR app is fully integrated with Shopify's Consent Tracking API, and in order to control the data collection from any tracking service (Google, Facebook, Pinterest etc.) added via the Shopify channels.

Automated customer privacy regions

After 12th of December 2024 our app is already integrated with the Shopify API which allows you to set the regions where you need the Shopify Customer Privacy settings applied, to be set directly from the app settings.

Navigate to the Cookie banner tab of our app
Open the Geolocation section.
Choose the regions where you want the cookie bar to be displayed for and data to be collected only after consent and Save the changes.

|| NOTE: The update is applicable for installation made after the above date (12 December 2024) only.

Setting up the Customer Privacy regions via Shopify

You can also set the regions in which the tracking will begin only after consent is given by following these steps:

Navigate to your store's Settings
Open the Customer Privacy section
Find the Cookie Banner page
Once there, go to More actions
Select Set custom banner regions
From the modal, choose the regions, as shown below:

Simprosys Google Shopping Feed integration for Consentmo GDPR app

The Simprosys Google Shopping Feed app is not officially integrated with our solution, however, there is a way for both services to run asynchronously in your store and work in accordance with the visitor’s consent given via the Cookie banner.

Simprosys settings

The solution Simprosys offers is a system where you can integrate multiple tracking services in one place and manage them there.

As per the regulations that the customer privacy laws are enforcing for not collecting any data before the visitor/customer consents to this, respectively, have all the tracking services blocked initially.

You can set this by first navigating to the dashboard of the Simprosys Google Shopping Feed > **Tracking Tags **tab > ** Access any of the Social Media tags settings** (if you do not have tags set there, you can check with the support of the Simprosys app, for another way to access these settings). At the bottom of the page, you will see a Must Read section, where point 5. from it is stating:

“Does your Online store need to Comply with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation(GDPR) Act for Tracking your Customer’s Details? If Yes, Kindly Enable Limit Tracking For Customers from HERE.”

Once you hit the “HERE” link, you will be redirected to a “GDPR Compliance Settings” page where you can tick the options for “Collect Data only after Customer's consent” and save the changes.

Social Media Pixels integration for Consentmo GDPR app

Accepted Answer

There are many pixels used throughout Shopify for tracking visitors and collecting information for marketing campaigns. The most popular ones are Facebook and TikTok pixels which in the majority of cases are added via the native Sales Channels, Shopify has for this.

If that is the case with your store as well, in order to integrate full control over when these pixels are active in the store, you would need to go to your Shopify Admin > Settings > Customer Privacy >and in Cookie banner section, you will be able to select which regions you wish the data for your visitors to be collected after they consent for this via the Cookie bar in your store.

Once you access the Cookie banner section you will have the option to Edit this list, and select the Recommended EU+EEA countries and add more locations there if needed, in which you want the data collection to be Collected after consent.

As our solution is fully integrated with Shopify's Consent Tracking API, once you set the above option, in addition, you would also need to make sure that the initial state of the cookie groups is set to initially blocked, as shown below:
